Nature: Brush / Field Fire
Location: 33446 Green Road, Millsboro, DE 19966
On Sunday afternoon, March 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush / field fire on Green Road off Banks Road. It was reported that a tree fell into the power lines causing the fire.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80, Utility 80 and Polaris 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 form the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crews were assigned to mitigate and suppress the 100’ x 100’ area of the field was burning.
Brush 80 arrived and commence with the initial suppression efforts ceasing the spread while Tanker 80 and Utility 80 crews assisted. Tanker 80 also supplied Brush 80 with water for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware Electric Cooperative linemen crews were in the area working to mitigate the tree into the wires concern.
All emergency response apparatus were able to return to their respective quarters.
