On Friday, February 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted a duty crew to coordinate various activities around the fire station and to be prepared for an immediate response to any fire, rescue, and/or EMS emergencies within the specific fire district.
The duty crew includes volunteers who undergo rigorous training programs to enhance their skills in firefighting, emergency medical services, and other essential areas. These personnel are paramount for ensuring the safety and well-being of the community during period of inclement weather, state of emergencies and other specific activities.
This specific event was utilized to evaluate equipment and apparatus operational readiness, as well as performing designated tasks assigned by company leadership which included apparatus cleaning, building maintenance, and training probationary members.
This duty crew was able to fully staff three pieces of apparatus, as well as the command unit.
In addition to the above tasks, crews responded to 2 emergencies within the fire district, which included but not limited to:
