Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 28260 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Saturday morning, November 1^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Rust Store.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with the possibility of both vehicles off the roadway into the wooded area.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility, Traffic Control 80 and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization if needed, vehicle stabilization, debris and fluid recovery, traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a white Toyota RAV4 and a blue Volkswagen sedan collided on John J. Williams Highway causing both vehicles to veer off the roadway into the wooden area.  The operator of the Toyota refused any additional EMS services and the operator of the Volkswagen was not present at the timeof arrival of the first responders.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with the closure of the roadway.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
