Nature: Indian River Holds Firefighter Training Evolutions

Location:  Oak Orchard Facility – Station #1

On Wednesday, October 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its monthly training evolutions with efforts for firefighters to become better acclimated with Delaware’s 800 MHz radio communication system, including proper etiquette, as well as apparatus equipment and tool familiarization which included search and find the commodity on the apparatus; and vehicle rescue tool familiarization with a tenacious exercise "to not break the egg." These training evolutions were coordinated under the direction of Indian River’s Training Officers.

These exercises were designated to enhance and fine tune a firefighter first responder’s skill set that emphasizes skill, power and finesse.  The exercises demonstrated the importance of mental and physical knowledge and skill while suggesting that tool’s strength is not the only factor; how it’s used is equally, if not more, important.

These exercises taught that strength is useless without control.

Illustrated herewith are some photographs to highlight the trainings incentives pursued.
