Nature: Medical Emergency – Landing Zone Assignment

City: Pot Nets Seaside

On Wednesday evening, October 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency which necessitated a landing zoning assignment.  The landing zone was designated to be at the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp complex off Long Neck Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Police Trooper 2 Aviation Unit.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and securing the landing zone for the aviation unit as well as assisting EMS personnel.

The patient suffered a medical condition which necessitated transportation to other medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control where needed.
