Nature: Traffic Collision - High Mechanism (bicycle)

On Monday, October 6^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near Long Neck Road/Indian Mission Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2. It was reported to car versus bicycle. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, traffic control and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a bicycle and a white Toyota Highlander collided near the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Indian Mission Road. The additional EMS and aviation units were cancelled.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State police are investigating.
