Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Long Neck Rd and Rudder Rd Sea Farers Village, DE 19966

Early Saturday morning, September 27^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck in the vicinity of Rudder Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision near the intersection with unknown extent of additional information.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 and Incident Command 80 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet Impala was struck in the rear by a mint green Chevrolet Trax rendering both vehicles inoperable and blocking all travel lanes of Long Neck Road.  Emergency first responders transported one person to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with complete closure of Long Neck Road initially pending state police investigation and removal of one vehicle.  Then one travel lane was opened with alternating traffic for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
