Nature: Traffic Collision - No injuries

Early Friday, September 5^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Plaza Drive.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  The incident was reported as one car pulled in front of another and desired to have the occupants checked out.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization and transport to nearby medical facilities, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a maroon Ford Focus and silver Subaru Crosstrek collided at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Plaza Drive rendering both vehicles inoperable.

This segment of John J. Williams Highway was restricted for the duration of the incident – eastbound traffic was detoured on Bay Farm Road and westbound traffic has lane restrictions.  The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for an extended period.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
