Nature: Electrical Hazard

On Thursday morning, August 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted an electrical hazard incident where utility service lines fell onto a trash truck in the Shawn’s Hide-a-way development off Banks Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident evaluation to ascertain the owner of the utility service wiring as well as discussion with the truck driver and notification of the respective utility service provider.

It appears that trash truck was performing its normal rounds and become entangled in some overhead utility service wiring.  The operator was out of the truck upon arrival of emergency response units. The truck was required to await the response of the utility service providers.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and monitoring for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
