Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Beaver Dam Rd and Indian Mission Rd Harbeson, DE 19951

On Monday morning, August 18^th, the Indian River (80) and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Beaver Dam Road and Indian Mission Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Utility 80-11 from Oak Orchard facility and Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included, traffic control, patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, vehicle extrication, fluid and debris recovery and overall included mitigation efforts. Aviation was down due to weather conditions.

It appears that a maroon Dodge RAM pick up and a brown & white Chevrolet SUV collided at the intersection of Indian Mission Road and Beaver Dam Road causing occupant entrapment in the Chevrolet.  Extrication assistance was tendered by the Lewes Fire Department.  Both vehicles sustained significant operational damage.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated complete roadway closure of Indian Mission Road and Beaver Dam Road in the designated area.

The Delaware State Police are investigation.
