Nature: Electrical Fire – Residential Structure
Location: 27614 South Nicklaus Av., The Peninsula, DE 19966
On Wednesday morning, August 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an electrical fie incident on South Nicklaus Avenue in the Peninsula. It was reported that a person was powerwashing the exterior of the residential structure when water got into an electrical outlet causing the outlet to catch fire.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crews assignments included an exterior and interior evaluation of the residential structure utilizing a thermal imaging camera for extensions and well as evaluating the electrical outlet as well.
The incident occurred when water got into an electrical outlet causing the outlet to catch fire on the exterior of the residential structure. The quick thinking of the person was to utilize an extinguished to suppress the fire pending arrival of emergency first responders.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. Traffic patterns along South Nicklaus Avenue were briefly altered.
