Nature: Trash Fire

Location: 28422 Clark Av Riverdale Beach, DE 19966

On Monday morning, March 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a trash fire complaint on Clark Avenue in the Riverdale Park development off River Road. It was reported that the neighbor was burning and smoke was coming the neighbor’s house and embers were flying through the air.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included full extinguishment and saturation of the area to prevent smoldering.

It appears that a resident was burning leaves and other materials that was causing a public nuisance which resulted in complaints to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner was apprised of the proper burning procedures in Delaware.

All emergency response units and personnel were permitted to return to their respective quarters.

The burning of leaves and construction materials are inappropriate within the State of Delaware regardless of a burning ban.
