Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Mount Joy Rd and John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, March 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Mount Joy Road/Oak Orchard Road intersection.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision at the intersection.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Incident Command 80, Engine #80-1 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, assistance with a canine that was located in the vehicle and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a maroon Ford Explorer and a silver Honda CRV collided at the intersection rendering both vehicles inoperable and one occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with all eastbound traffic patterns being disrupted for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
