Nature: Outside Fire

On Saturday morning, March 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire incident on Mount Joy Road.  It was be a fire in the back yard and spreading.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine 80 and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities to cease the spread of the advancing fire, suppression and saturation once the spread was discontinued.  Tanker 80 was assigned tasks on the neighboring property and Brush 80-0 and Engine 80 was assigned tanks on the primary parcel.

It appears the property occupants had an outside fire was impacted by the winds and spread in the yards, hedgerow arrows, etc. with exposure concerns with RV Campers, decking and structures.  The occupant was apprised of the proper burning procedures as the fire was suppressed.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
