Nature: Fire Alarm Sounding

Location: 32975 Shoppes At Long Neck Blvd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, January 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm with audible alarms inside a specific unit but not the entire building.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.  Additionally, the Delaware State Fire Police responded to assist.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts, notification of the complex maintenance personnel, exterior evaluation of the facility before making access to the respective unit as well as an interior evaluation.  Additional resources from the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and Sussex County Paramedics were requested to the incident location.

The rationale for the alarm sounding has been undetermined and the facility maintenance personnel and complex management have been notified of the operational concerns with the building system and to perform repairs to the entranceway door.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation

All emergency fire response units were authorized to return to their respective stations.
