Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Indian Mission Rd and Cannon Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, January 25^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Indian Mission between Cannon Road and Friendship Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 as well as Milton (85) and Lewes (82) fire departments for rescue assist.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed and permitted, patient stabilization where needed and permitted, notified of negative entrapment, traffic control with the complete closure and detour of the Indian Mission Road traffic patterns, fluid debris and recovery where permitted.  The Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT) was requested to respond with two arrow boards.

It appears that a Jaguar XK was struck by an Audi A8 sedan on Indian Mission Road causing injury and damage.  The aviation unit landed in the roadway and was utilized to transport. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the complete roadway closure as well as detouring the necessary traffic.  These personnel were assisted with the responding DELDOT personnel.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
