Sunday January, 5 2014 @ 07:48:47 Nature: Automatic Fire Alarm Location: Building 13 – Marina Bay – The Peninsula Address: 27270 18th Blvd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday, January 5th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm incident at Building 13 in the Marina Bay section of the Peninsula off of Bay Farm Road. The alarm system notification identified a water flow indicator at the location and that a responder was not identified as of yet. Emergency response units included Ladder 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included to identify the cause of the automatic alarm and mitigate the incident. Engine #80-3 and its crew were assigned to address the front of the building and worked with the alarm panel and fire suppression pumps. Ladder 80 and its crew was assigned to evaluate the garage area to identify the source of the water exiting the building. Initially, a broke pipe was identified in the garage area and suppressed in order to cease its water flow. Secondly, a stairwell sprinkler head ruptured causing a water flow situation as well. The alarm system water supply was shut off in order to discontinue the issues pending arrival of the alarm company representative and restoration of the pipes and sprinkler head. The alarm system was deactivated pending resolution of the issues by the alarm company. |
