Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

On Wednesday, April 14^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Lowell Avenue near Taormina Square in the Silicato Development.  It was reported to be a vehicle into water with entrapment.  Other ancillary alerts included Sussex County Paramedics and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were able to assist with removing the vehicle's occupant prior to arrival of fire company response.  The aviation unit was cancelled while responding.  

It appears that a Chevrolet Traverse encountered an operator error striking some landscaping shrubbery, fencing, and running into the stormwater retention pond.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic to limit scene access.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
