Nature: Structure Fire – Assist Lewes (82)
Location: 912 Savannah Rd Lewes, DE 19958
On Saturday evening, March 20th, at 21:51 the Indian River (80), Milton (85) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist Lewes (82) with a working residential structure fire in the 900 block of Savannah Road, Lewes, Delaware.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
The original call came into the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center from the home reporting their smoke detectors going off. Further information from the caller was obtained, and the call was upgraded to a working fire dispatch.
Crews from Indian River provided manpower assistance with overhaul.
Additional incident alerts included standby cover up assignments for many mutual aid companies for the duration of this incident.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident as Savannah Road was closed to all traffic.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the origin of the fire.
There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
