Nature: Indian River Sells Ladder 80 to Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department

Apparatus Sold – Ladder 80!

The Indian River VFC is pleased to announce that the Ladder Truck has been sold.  The sale was necessary based upon Indian River’s pursuit of upgrading its existing apparatus in order to better serve our community and to address the current staffing levels of the volunteer fire service.

 • Ladder 80 - http://irvfc.com/apparatus/detail/4630

Ladder 80 is a 1990 Pierce Lance 105’ ladder truck with an 8-man cab; 8V92 Detroit diesel engine, automatic transmission, 12 kw generator, Whelen emergency light packages, automatic nozzles at tip of ladder; 8 – 500 watt quartz lights; stokes baskets, ventilation fans; assortments of hand tools at tip of ladder; assortment of ground ladders ranging from 14’ to 45’.

Ladder 80 was housed and responded from our Oak Orchard facility.

This Pierce Ladder truck replaced the 1984 American LaFrance Ladder truck.

This Pierce Ladder truck was originally known as Ladder 79 and served the Doylestown Fire Company Station #1 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  It was acquired and retro-fitted for the Indian River Vol. Fire Co., Inc. during Calendar Year 2010

The Ladder 80 graphics and lettering was completely designed and installed by Rogers Graphics in Milton, Delaware.

An Apparatus Committee was appointed and designated to pursue the procurement requirements for a replacement ladder for the Indian River VFC.

Representatives from Indian River (Hayden Klingler, James Wagner, and Robert Mills) provided an operational overview for the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department prior to their designated departure time.

Ladder 80 was transferred to the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department in Crisfield, Maryland on March 1, 2021.

Congratulations and thank you to the Crisfield VFD.

Indian River VFC extends best wishes and safe travels.
