Survey The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is monitoring the pending inclement weather conditions and preparing to staff both stations (Oak Orchard and Long Neck) during the storms period to ameliorate responses. Governor Markell has implemented a mandatory evacuation and is requesting your cooperation and assistance. http://www.sussexcountian.com/article/20121026/NEWS/121029800/-1/Entertainment%20Life Delaware’s governor has issued a limited state of emergency and a mandatory evacuation order for flood-prone areas within ¾ miles of Sussex County’s coastline and major waterways, effective 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, as Hurricane Sandy continues to threaten the mid-Atlantic region with strong winds, severe tidal flooding, and torrential rains that could span Sunday to Tuesday. Gov. Jack A. Markell has ordered that those within the identified evacuation zones leave by 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 – 24 hours from the beginning of the limited state of emergency. There are no travel restrictions. Indian River has relocated some of its emergency response apparatus to higher ground for the duration of the inclement weather. Commencing at 6 p.m. on Sunday (10/28/2012) evening, the Indian River stations will be fully staffed for emergency response or storm mitigation efforts.
