Tuesday August, 28 2012 @ 22:23:34 Nature: Structure Fire Address: 28200 - 28361 Elizabeth St., Bowden Acres, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Tuesday evening, August 28th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) were alerted for a working structure fire on Elizabeth Street in the Bowden Acres development off of Delaware Avenue in Oak Orchard. Upon arrival of emergency response personnel the fire was shutting out of the roof area of the porch addition. Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included: Engine #80-5 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facilities as well as Engine #80-1, Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Additional mutual aid response included a full complement of staff from Millsboro and Lewes volunteer fire departments. Emergency response crews were required to implement fire suppression activities, evaluate for extensions, monitor the heat conditions within the residential structure, interior walls, crawl space and attic eaves, etc. An additional requirement to ventilate through positive pressure was coordinated to mitigate any interior smoke and odor of fire as well as scene preservation measures. The scene preservation measures were critical in order not to disturb any potential evidence associated with the incident. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating. The Delaware State Fire Police provided screen preservations as well. |
