Sunday September, 11 2011 @ 16:26:41 Nature: Water Rescue Priority Location: Area of Gull Island Address: 36678 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday afternoon, September 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a water rescue priority where a Carolina Skiff type vessel was taking on water the vessel had three persons on-board in the area of the Gull Island. Emergency response vehicles and vessels included: Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 3; Brush 80-00 with 80 Marine 2; and Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 3 as well as Engine #80-5. Additional response units included the DNREC Marine Police; Tow Boat US; and the United States Coast Guard from Indian River Inlet. All of Indian River’s units responded to the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp with 80 Marine 1 and 80 Marine 2 being utilized for the incident response. Other ancillary mariners provided assistance and shuttle some persons to the boat ramps as well. Emergency response crews were able to locate the partially submerged vehicle and render assistance. Tow Boat US was on location and offered de-watering measures and towing assistance. All mariners and vessels were returned to the Massey’s Landing Public Ramps with no injuries or fatalities being incurred.
