Saturday June, 19 2010 @ 9 a.m. Nature: Vessel Demonstration Location: Indian River Bay & Rehoboth Bay On Saturday, June 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Vessel Committee was permitted to host SVITrucks (www.svitrucks.com and www.sviboats.com) of Loveland, Colorado to attend the fire district of the Indian River and demonstration a vessel that is being evaluated for potential acquisition for the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. The Vessel Committee was authorized for implementation at the request of President Patrick Miller who requested that Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. appoint various volunteer fire company members to serve on the committee to specifically evaluate and identify the marine operations of the company and make recommendations to the Board of Directors, Company Officers and General Membership. Chief Deery requested the appointment of the following persons: Chief Engineer James R. Wagner, Chairman; Deputy Chief Brian P. Hubbs, Co-Chairman; Second Assistant Chief Hayden F. Klingler; Fire Police Officer William F. Tobin, Jr.; Firefighter Nicholas Karpin; President Miller and Chief Deery to serve on the committee in order to fulfill the chosen objective. SVI Boats manufactures light, medium and heavy rescue apparatus for fire companies and specializes in “Rock Solid Quality”. The Rescue Boat is a heavy duty marine grade aluminum constructed vessel with a 72” power operated bow landing craft gate to transport manpower, equipment and/or ATVs. The vessel hosts a 12’ x 6’ working deck space; self-bailing hull design with seating for ten (10) and can be fully maneuverable while flowing water. Illustrated herewith are various photographs of the day’s demonstration exercises.
