Wednesday June, 2 2010 @ 11:18:08 Nature: Structure Fire Address: 16572 Shingle Point Rd Milton, DE 19968 The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Milton Fire Company (Station #85) on a working structure on Shingle Point Road, south of Harbeson Road outside of Milton. The following volunteer fire companies were requested to assist with the incident as well: Georgetown (Station #77); Lewes (Station #82); Ellendale (Station #75); Memorial (Station #89) Slaughter Beach. Other additional companies were required to provide stand-by coverage for the companies responding to the scene. Tanker 80 and Engine #80-3 responded from Indian River and were utilized to assist with water supply resource and water shuttling assignments. Tanker 80 was assigned to provide a continual water supply to Ladder 85. Fire crews were called to a vacant home on Shingle Point Road in Milton just after 11 a.m. and found heavy fire when they arrived. Damage is estimated at $10,000. Anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at 302-856-5600 RELEASE DATE: June 2, 2010 The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a vacant house fire that occurred on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:04 AM on the 16000 block of Shingle Point Road in Milton, Delaware. The Milton Fire Department, assisted by the Ellendale, Georgetown, Indian River, Lewes and Slaughter Beach Fire Departments, responded to the scene. Upon arrival they encountered heavy fire. No injuries were reported. Damages have been estimated at approximately $10,000. State Fire Marshal Investigators have determined that the fire was intentionally set.
