Story
Just before midnight on August 10, 2008, the Indian River, Lewes, and Millsboro volunteer fire companies were alerted for a reported structure fire on Sloop Avenue in the Pot Nets Bayside development. Our Duty Officer, Captain Jason Faulkner, arrived on the scene and reported a heavy fire condition in the rear of the residential structure. Engine 80-3, under the command of Assistant Chief Brian Hubbs, activates two 1 3/4 inch fire suppression lines and entered the structure. Firefighters encountered heavy fire in the rear section of the residence. Additional arriving engine companies assisted with the continued suppression efforts, as well as, ventilation and overhaul of the structure. Two Indian River firefighters were injured on the scene and transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incidents.
