Story
Shortly before 11 p.m. on April 5th, the Indian River, Lewes and Millsboro fire departments were alerted for a reported structure fire in Pot Nets Lakeside. Upon arrival of our Duty Officer – First Assistant Chief Eric Ruckle, it was determined that a manufactured modular residence had flames visible from the exterior. An immediate fire suppression line was activated by firefighters arriving on Engine 80-2. Additional arriving apparatus were assigned to assist with various fire suppression activities, as well as, ventilation of the structure and overhaul of the damage. One civilian was injured and transported to a nearby medical facility by the local emergency services provider. The Georgetown Lewes fire companies provided additional stand-by coverage at our stations in Oak Orchard and Long Neck. This incident is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office.
