Story

On Saturday afternoon, September 15, 2007, at approximately 11:49 a.m., the Indian River, Lewes, and Millsboro fire companies were alerted for a reported structure fire in the Rehoboth Shores development off Long Neck Road.  Engine 80-2 was the first arriving fire suppression unit, under the command of Deputy Chief Brian Hubbs.

Engine #80-2 crew was assigned to make entry into the residential structure where they discovered the fire had already been extinguished the respective homeowner.

All other responding apparatus were assigned to check for extension of the original fire and perform ventilation of the residence. The alarm was downgraded with the Lewes Fire Department's assigned being changed to provide stand-by coverage at Indian River's Long Neck facility until units were able to return.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries and the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
