On Sunday, February 18, 2006, at 2:40 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire in Pot Nets Coveside. Upon arrival of Captain Jason Faulkner it was determined to have approximately 1/4 acre involved extending into a marsh area and threatening a nearby residence. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before it was able to reach the residence. Indian River firefighters were in service for fifty minutes.
