On the Tuesday, August 22, 2006, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the local EMS provider for a subject injured in a long fall. Apparantly, one male patient had fallen approximately forty feet from a roof. IRVFC firefighters assisted the EMS and Sussex County Paramedics with packaging the patient. Engine 80-1, under the direction of Fire Chief Steven Deery provided a secure landing zone so that the patient could be flown to PRMC in Salisbury, MD.
