At 7:50 AM on January 8, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a house fire at 27986 Layton Davis Road. Station 83, Millsboro, was also dispatched for a full assist. Upon arrival, a well involved house fire was found with all of the residents already out of the building and at a neighbor's house. All three residents were checked for smoke inhalation and transported to Beebe Medical Center. The fire had already worked its way into the walls and void spaces in the attic area. Thirty-five Indian River firefighters were on the scene for 2 hours and 59 minutes. Rehoboth Beach had a truck and crew standing by in each Indian River fire station.
