Nature: Structure Fire Location: Milton Diner & Attached Building
Early Wednesday morning, August 10th, the Indian River (80), Georgetown (77), Ellendale (75), Millsboro (83), Carlisle (Milford) (42), Greenwood (78), Memorial (Slaughter Beach) (89), and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted to assist the Milton (85) Fire Company with a working commercial structure fire on Broadkill Road. Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility. Original dispatch requested a single engine cover up assignment and that upgraded to the scene while enroute to Milton. Emergency response crews assisted with fire suppression and manpower resources in order to help mitigate the incident. It appears that the Milton Diner and nearby pharmacy were fully involved in flames upon arrival of emergency response personnel from Milton. The Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware Department of Transportation assist with traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. Additional resources were necessary as a result of the controlled substances within the pharmacy. Additional information can be viewed at the following websites:
