Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Plaza Drive, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday, December 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Plaza Drive. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included scene and incident mitigation, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, preparation for vehicle extrication with a driver’s side door pop, and traffic control.

It appears that a silver Toyota Avalon and a white Ford Van collided near the intersection. The Toyota suffered damage to the driver’s side door area causing entrapment while the Ford van suffered driver’s side front end damage.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance while this section of John J. Williams Highway was limited to traffic pattern.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
