In the past, Harry has held the positions of Assistant Chief Engineer and DVFA Alternate Delegate. Harry has been awarded the IR Incident Top Responder, IR Incident Top Responder, and IR Firefighter of the Year awards. Harry P. Dawson was affiliated with the Townsend and Indian River volunteer fire companies and devoted many years and hours to volunteer with the fire service and assist others in needs.

Harry’s combined volunteer tenure tallied 45 years, 9 months, and 2 days. Harry was awarded a Life Membership in Townsend and served in the following capacities during his tenure: Assist Chief Engineer (1 yr.); Chief Engineer (17 yrs.), Fire Police (2 yrs.), Board of Director (9 yrs.), Buildings & Grounds Committee (2 yrs.), Banquet Committee (2 yrs.), Long Range Planning Committee (6 yrs.), and many other tasks and assignments. Awarded Chief Engineer Emeritus in 2001.

Harry’s tenure with Indian River tallied 17 years, 0 months, and 3 days. Harry was awarded Firefighter of the Year award for his emergency incident responsiveness and performance around the firehouse working many things and served in the following capacities during his tenure: Assistant Chief Engineer, DVFA Delegate, DVFA Alternate, and Top Incident Responder for many consecutive years.
