Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Mount Joy Rd and Cannon Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, July 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road at or near the Cannon Road intersection.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a single vehicle into the wooded area.

Emergency response units from Indian River Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Rescue 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, notification of utility service provider (Delaware Electric Cooperative) and DELDOT Sign Maintenance Section for necessary repairs.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet Malibu was traveling on Mount Joy Road and left roadway striking a utility pole guide wire and street directional signage before running into the wooded area.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.  The Mount Joy Road traffic pattern was temporarily altered during the incident mitigation phase.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
