Nature: Indian River Recognizes Ralph Walker

On Wednesday evening, July 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company recognized Ralph Walker for his years of service in the Delaware Volunteer Fire Service. Ralph has decided to retired as Fire Police Officer after serving more than 38 years with the Indian River and Aetna Hook & Ladder fire companies.

Ralph joined the Delaware Volunteer Fire Service in 1971 as a firefighter with the Aetna Hook & Ladder in Newark, Delaware for 16 years before transitioning to a fire police officer.  Ralph’s tenure amongst the fire police ranks is:

  • Aetna Hook & Ladder – Fire Police Officer – 12 years;

  • Aetna Hook & Ladder – Fire Police Captain – 20 years; and

  • Indian River – Fire Police Officer – 6 years.

Ralph has served the Delaware Fire Service for more than 54 years as an Active Firefighter / Fire Police Officer and has decided to retire from the ranks of Fire Police.  Therefore, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has presented Ralph Walker with his retired Delaware State Fire Police license plate to commemorate this mileage.

Congratulations are hereby extended to Ralph Walker for his years of dedicated service.
