Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 33871 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, May 1^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road between the Pot Nets Bayside and Rehoboth Shores entrances.  It was reported to be DART bus into the trees. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as needed.  Additional resources included DART representatives and the DELDOT Area 4 crew for tree and debris clean-up.

It appears that a DART bus was traveling on Long Neck Road and left the roadway striking a cluster of trees.  The EMS provider did transport one person to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the complete closure of Long Neck Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
