Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 25911 Kings Lane Enchanted Acres, DE 19966

Early Tuesday morning, March 12^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Kings Lane in the Enchanted Acres development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported that smoke and fire showing from the neirghbor’s house.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an exterior 360? evaluation locating the utilities and fire from the “C – D” corner of the structure with extension into the residence, conduct a primary and secondary interior search, electrical service disconnected, fire suppression activities advancing an 1½” line into the residential structure, establish a water supply and manpower pool as well as other fire ground mitigating activities.

It appears that a single wide residential structure with additions had a fire located in the walls near the rear of the structure causing significant damage and displacing the residential occupants.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control along Long Neck Road for staging apparatus.

The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance with the displaced residents which included an adult female and four children.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
