Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, January 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway approaching Bay Farm Road from the east.  It was reported to be a four vehicle incident with the possibility of two patients.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Utility 8011 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency medical service units also included Millsboro (83) EMS as well.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a black Kia Soul was traveling westbound and initiated a chain reaction type collision when it struck the rear of a green Dodge Pick Up, which was forced into a Honda mini-van which hit a GMS Sierra Pick Up.  All of the vehicles involved incurred damage with three of the vehicle being rendered inoperable as a result of the incident.

The EMS providers transported patients to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with all eastbound traffic on John J. Williams Highway being detoured and westbound traffic utilized alternating lanes for passage around the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
