Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Friday, May 13^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Bayshore Drive.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include incident mitigation, traffic control, patient stabilization, if needed, vehicle stabilization, excessive fluid and debris recovery. 

It appears that a small Ford Escape was northbound on Long Neck Road and struck in the rear by a commercial box truck.  The impact pushed the Ford into a southbound Chevrolet truck pulling boat and boat trailer.  The incident caused the boat to vacate the trailer blocking travel lanes of Long Neck Road.  All occupants refused additional emergency medical services.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of Long Neck Road detouring traffic to alternative secondary roads for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
