Nature: Outside Fire

Location: 32472 River Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, December 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire incident on River Road near Pocohantas Avenue.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, saturation of the affected areas, and incident mitigation.  Crews utilized rakes to assist with containing the fire as well as gaining access to the roots and other affected areas.

It appears that the resident light a small fire in a burn pit that got out of control because of the winding conditions and ignited nearby leaves, pine needs, tree bark, and pier decking on the waterfront properties.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police responded to the incident location as well.
