Address:  31768 Legion Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday morning, January 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the American Legion.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with possible minor injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad for their emergency medical services unit.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, assist with patient stabilization if needed and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a maroon Honda CRV was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and crossed the center line striking a tandem axle utility trailer being pulled by a red Dodge Pick Up.  The accident tore the axles of the utility trailer and caused the trailer to stop against a utility pole while also causing front-end damage to the Honda.  Traffic patterns were completely closed for the duration of the incident. One occupant from the vehicle was transported for additional medical observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
