Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Pot Nets Creekside (80)

Long Neck Rd and Ridgewood Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Saturday evening, December 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the local emergency medical services provider were alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Pot Nets Creekside.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines 80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response unit assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, as well as traffic control and overall incident mitigation. 

It appears that a Toyota sedan and a GMC Yukon XL collided causing heavy front-end damage to the sedan and extensive rear end damage to the GMC Yukon.  The sedan was located in the southbound lane of Long Neck Road while the GMC was located in the entranceway to the Pot Nets development.  The driver of the Toyota sedan fled the scene prior to arrival of any emergency first responder.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police requested additional assistance from their aviation unit – Trooper #2 and K-9 units to assist with searching for the missing driver.
