Nature: Joint Training - Structural Firefighting Tactics & Evolutions

Location:  Delaware State Fire School – Georgetown Campus

City: Georgetown, DE

On Wednesday, November 20th, the Indian River (80) and Milton (85) volunteer firefighters attended a joint training session at the Delaware State Fire School Georgetown Campus where the topic was structural firefighting tactics and evolution training.

Safe and effective structural firefighting techniques and tactics require a thorough and complex process which in many cases is not a simple matter of “just how to.” Operational decisions depend on many factors which include: the type of structure, the likeliness of occupancy, the water supply, the manpower resources, etc.

These training evolutions discussed include planning, evaluation, and implementation to enable firefighters and officers to effectively manage structural fire incidents in a safe and effective manner, regardless of size or complexity.

These exercises are beneficial to foster and fine tune training skills and working relationships because the Milton and Indian River fire companies are mutual aid companies and shared dual response functionalities.

Illustrated are some training illustrations of the activities.
