Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Mount Joy Rd and Cannon Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, November 3, 2018, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road near Cannon Road.  It was reported a single vehicle accident involving a telephone pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility, Tanker 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional resources were alerted from the Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and preparation for vehicle extrication as well as scene preservation, traffic control and overall incident mitigation tasks.

It appears that a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling on Mount Joy Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a utility pole and continuing into a nearby field.  The occupant of the vehicle required a rapid extrication maneuver.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
