Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Indian Mission Rd and Friendship Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, September 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for multi-car vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road at the intersection of Friendship Road.  It was reported to have occupant entrapment as well.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional resources were requested from the Millsboro Fire Company and Lewes Fire Department Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, scene mitigation, assistance with patient assessments, if needed, as well as incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white utility van was attempting to turn left onto Friendship Road when a Dodge RAM Pick Up struck it from behind pushing it in oncoming traffic when a Ford Explorer struck the front of the utility van.  All vehicles suffered significant damage and four occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities for observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
