Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Hollymount Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, July 15^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover on John J. Williams Highway at Hollymount Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, LifeNet2 Aviation Unit, Sussex County Paramedics and Millsboro EMS Units.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, incident mitigation as well as fluid and debris recovery.

It appears that a gray Mazda compact sedan and an orange Jeep Wrangler were traveling on John J. Williams Highway near the intersection of Hollymount Road when they collided causing substantial front-end damage to both vehicles.  The Jeep continued off the roadway where it overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its side.  The Mazda also continued off the roadway where came to rest against some signage and roadway guardrails.  The occupants of the Jeep were transported by the Millsboro Emergency Medical Services Unit to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.  The aviation unit was cancelled while traveling to the incident location.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.  Traffic along John J. Williams Highway was restricted to one lane pending debris clean-up.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
