Nature: Outside Fire

On Friday afternoon, January 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire on Sharon Drive in the John Burton Manor development off of American Legion Road.  It was identified as a control burn that got out of hand and spread to nearby weeds, brush, and grass.

Emergency responses from Indian River included Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression lines to saturate the area in order to prevent the spread as well as to ensure suppression.  Crews utilized rakes and other devices to gain control.

It appears that there was a control burn situation that out of hand causing this grass and brush fire.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
