Saturday September, 17 2016 @ 11:28 Nature: Watercraft In Distress Location: Paradise Grille 27347 Bay Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday morning, September 17, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), Dagsboro (73) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a water rescue incident in or near the Paradise Grill in Pot Nets Bayside. It was reported to be serious involving a jet ski and pontoon vessel. Additional resources from the Delaware State Police Aviation and Ground Units, the DNREC Marine Police Ground Units and Vessels, the Sussex County Paramedics as well as the United States Coast Guard – Indian River Inlet Squadron were responding as well. Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-8 and 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility; Brush 80-0 and 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included vessel stabilization; patient stabilization and assistance with patient care; establishment of a landing zone for incoming aviation units; cessation of vehicle, marine, and pedestrian traffic; and implementation of security and preservation. Indian River 80 Marine 2 was launched from the near Pot Nets Marina in Pot Nets Bayside, Marine 83 and Marine 73 were also launched an in route to the incident location. DNREC Marine Units and the US Coast Marine Units were utilized to eliminate the marine traffic via the waterway near the Paradise Grill. The Delaware State Fire Police were utilized to close any entrance ways in the Paradise Grill complex and premises. The landing zone was established on the west side of the former Pot Nets Community Center. Additional resources from the Delaware Medical Examiners Officer and nearby fire company Chaplain Services were requested to the incident location. It was reported that a jet ski and a pontoon boat collided in the water near the Paradise Grill with at least one “Priority 1” patient an unknown status of the other mariners at time of dispatch. The Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control – Marine Police are investigating.
