Nature: Community Volunteers Unite to Assist – Delaware Firefighter

Volunteers Unite to Assist – Delaware Firefighter

On Saturday, August 22, many volunteers from within the Delaware volunteer fire service, community, and neighborhood joined together to assist a long time Delaware fire service volunteer and finalize a project that helped others in need. This event culminated many days of effort and completed the deck building project.

Recently, a long time Delaware fire service volunteer encountered a medical situation which resulted in his right leg being amputated above the knee. This action created the need for many life changing actions including structural renovations to his living accommodations.

Many fellow firefighters and community volunteers recognize that volunteering in the Delaware fire service is passion wanted to return the favor for the years of helping others in need and to emphasis that compassion for others is what the Delaware fire service is about!

A cadre of workers attended the residential location and finished constructing a new deck and ramp in order to assist this fellow firefighter in need. Fellow firefighters from Goodwill (18), Brandywine Hundred (11) , Memorial (89), and Indian River (80) participated in order assist and complete the deck and ramp building initiative.

For many years, this volunteer served the Goodwill and Indian River fire companies assisting many people in times of need as well as being an elected official in many capacities representing the Delaware Fire Service.

This initiative is an effort to acknowledge these efforts and say “thank you” and we still care!
